History

Heritage

In 1940, Allen Block founded Block & Company, Inc., Realtors. From its humble beginnings, Block & Company has grown to become the Midwest's preeminent full-service real estate organization. It is our 68 year history as an independent family business that gives us a unique perspective on real estate investing: accountability, long-term commitment and the relentless pursuit of excellence.

Principles

We serve our investors with the highest integrity, and the expertise it takes to build and maintain long-term relationships. Our investors entrust us with the stewardship of their financial resources and we build their wealth through our disciplined approach to investing. At Block & Company we take pride in being progressive, yet prudent and enthusiastic, yet objective. These principles guide us as we seek to best represent our investors' interests.

Faithful Stewards

Our core principles are the foundation of an enduring family institution. As faithful stewards of our clients wealth, Block & Company is driven by the values instilled in every employee by our founder, Allen Block. It is this commitment that has fostered our strong client relationships and enabled the continued growth of our firm.

Block Funds

In 2004, the Block family invited other like-minded families to use their real estate investment capabilities to invest in a portfolio of institutional quality office, industrial and retail commercial real estate otherwise not available to individual investors. This was the inception of Block Funds. Over the last four years, through three individual funds, Block has provided its investors with strong, stable cash yields, low correlations with other asset classes and competitive risk-adjusted returns.

Aligned Interests

Today, our investors have entrusted Block Funds with real estate assets in excess of $200 million. Our private ownership structure enables us to align the interests of our owners, Principals, and investors. In each Block Fund an affiliate of the General Partner and the Principals contribute a minimum of $1 million of the total capital contribution to the fund. This investment directly and materially aligns the interest of the General Partner and the Principals with those of our investors.
